Get a free Groq API key

Groq runs Whisper Large v3 Turbo on dedicated hardware — it's the fastest hosted Whisper available, and the free tier is generous. You'll have a key in about 60 seconds.

    Open console.groq.com

    Open https://console.groq.com in a new tab. Click Sign In — Google login works fine.

    Go to API Keys

    Once signed in, click your avatar → API Keys, or open https://console.groq.com/keys directly.

    Create a new key

    Click Create API Key. Give it a name like 'live-translate-laptop'. Copy the key — Groq shows it only once.

    Paste into Live Translate Cloud

    Open the app, click the Keys tab in the sidebar, click Add key, paste it. Give it a label so you can find it later.

    Add 2-3 keys for longer use

    The free tier is ~8 hours of audio per day per key. Add a second or third key (you can create multiple under the same Groq account) — the app rotates them automatically when one hits the rate limit.

Groq's free tier: ~28800 seconds (8 hours) of audio per key per day, ~20 requests per minute per key. The app shows live quota usage in the Quota tab.
